FAQs
What is a demountable partition?
A non-weight bearing wall system made up of metal, glass, wood, fabrics, and/or hard surfaces that can be moved, reused, and removed without damaging the base building walls and ceilings.
Are glass walls safe?
Glass walls require the use of safety glass (tempered and/or laminated) to be safer!
What is tempered glass?
Does the ClearSpace team enjoy action movies?
Can ClearSpace provide decorative window film?
Is your glass bullet proof?
Do glass walls have a long lead time?
Do we need to patch our floors for flatness before you install?
Most certainly! The 1988 classic Die Hard featuring Bruce Willis even has some great examples of demountable partitions!
How does switchable smart glass work?
A film made using PDLC (or polymer dispersed liquid crystals), which while at rest are oriented to disperse light, however when they are electrified, they straighten out to allow light to pass straight through!
How tall can your wall systems go?
Pancakes ot Waffles?
Regular glass is heated to nearly the pint of melting then quickly and uniformly cooled to strengthen the glass 4x and cause any breakage to result in small beads of broken glass instead of sharp shards!
Absolutely! We have partners who work with 3M, Solyx, and other film manufacturers to carry decorative designs or even create your own custom graphic!
We have systems built for up to 10’, 12’, 14’, 16’, and even 22’, depending on your situation and design needs!
Can I remove permanent marker from glass?
Are glass walls acoustic?
Can we provide glass that goes from clear to foggy with a switch?
Yes. Check this out: How to remove permanent marker from glass!
Yes! Our systems have various levels of acoustic privacy: Non-acoustic (STC29): normal speech can be heard, Single-glazed acoustic (STC35): loud speech can be clearly heard, double-glazed (STC40-42): Loud speech can be heard but not understood, double-glazed high-acoustic (STC45): Loud speech can't be heard, loud noises are softened!
Definitely! We partner with manufacturers who offer switchable or smart glass and film options, so we can provide switchable glass in our systems, or switchable film to be applied to your existing glass!
How do you clean glass?
Any ammonia-free & streak-free cleaner will work for most glass cleaning needs, especially when used with a lint-free cloth or squeegee. For large quantity cleaning, like an acoustic double-glazed wall that needs the highest level of cleanliness, I typically use a 50/50 alcohol/water mix exclusively with a squeegee. For greasy buildup or much tougher glass-cleaning situations, denatured alcohol is a great option, but BE CAREFUL, denatured alcohol is flammable, toxic, can cause issues from inhalation, can be irritating to skin & eyes.
Demountable partitions are perfect for acoustic privacy & standard security, not quite to that level. That being said, bullet or ballistic resistant glass is an absolutely available line of products tested to ensure security in one of (8) levels.
Not always! Our glass wall manufacturers have a wide variety of offerings, options, and finishes each with specific lead times. ClearSpace is focused on having all ranges of solutions covered, so our quickest lines can be on-site 3 weeks following approvals, while custom finishes & framed doors usually take around 6 weeks, and oversized or solid partitions can be closer to 8 weeks.
If the floors are TOO far out, that might be necessary, but in most cases, planning ahead during field measurement, or the adjustability built into our systems will make up for imperfections in the surfaces.
